Dylan's Success Story
Dylan, this 2 year old Hound Mix, was found on the streets in January of 2009 before making his way to a shelter without an adoption program. This lucky boy was taken in by Underdog ResQ where he lived in a home while searching for his new family until April of 2009. He was adopted by a loving couple that has nothing but great things to say about their new companion. Here is a note from his new family in the fall of 2009:
Dylan, whom is now aptly named Rudy (after the “underdog” ND football player Rudy) became a part of our family the moment we laid eyes on him. The moment his foster caretakers (Matt and Colin, you guys are the best!) let him into our home he came barreling into our lives with kisses and smiles! Rudy quickly adapted to his new home in Salem and has flourished ever since. He loves going for long walks in the park, playing with his a million and one toys and most importantly, he has become quite the local celebrity in our neighborhood ( It’s not uncommon for us to hear “It’s Rudy!! from the other end of the street when we take him for walks!). Howev er, as evidenced by his membership in two local play groups, his list of fa ns extends beyond his human friends. Rudy has proven time and again that he has a special knack for getting along with even the most rambunctious mutt and a very enduring gift for bringing the most reticent dogs into a state of playfulness. We can never fully explain just how much joy Rudy has brought to our lives and we canno t thank Underdog Resq enough for giving us the opportunity to love this ama zing little guy for the rest of his life!

Common misconceptions before adopting a dog: |
|
1. We’re getting Rex for the kids - they will do all the work.
Maybe for the first week or so, but most kids will slack
off soon enough and the responsibility will fall on your laps.
You are considered to be the owner because you are over the age
of 21. If your kids do not walk Rex, then it is up to you that
it gets done. As much as we talk to our kids about responsibility
and as much as they agree to care for your new dog, we all know
that sooner or later most kids will lose interest or get tired.
If you can positively answer these questions and concerns, then you may be
ready to adopt Rex.
