Name: Snoop
Breed: Boxer
Age: 5-6 years
Sex: Male
Snoop's Success Story
Snoop and his brother Apollo were homeless at the age of 7 years. Their owners lost their home due to financial hardship and they were forced to give their dogs up to a shelter. Underdog ResQ was able to find each a separate foster home but they were able to see each other from time to time.
When we admitted Snoop we figured out that he was deaf. That made him seem less adoptable to some people despite his good looks and great charm. He was a very good boy.
In July of 2010, five months after being admitted to our organization, Snoop was adopted. He now lives with a cool couple that take him on camping trips and are really enjoying his company. Here are some photos taken within the first couple of weeks of being adopted.

Name: Cassie
Breed: Pit Bull/Boxer Mix
Age: 5 months
Sex: Female
Cassie's Success Story
Cassie was found as a stray in NY in mid-June, 2010. Cassie was brought to a NYC shelter where she spent a few days with an unknown future. Fortunately, Underdog ResQ discovered this little gem and was able to get her into a foster home before anything bad could happen! Cassie was brought to her foster home at about 5 months old and a little under weight. With the right love, care and medications- this beautiful 40 pound Pit Bull/Boxer mix was offered up for adoption just a short time later. Cassie quickly learned all the basic commands and showed her foster mom that she was nothing but a big bundle of love and joy. Cassie did well with children and enjoyed playing with her two foster brothers that were both UNDER 10 pounds! It only took a short two months until Brendan stepped in and showed a very strong interest in Cassie. Visits were made and one week later Cassie was brought to her forever home!!! She's the only pup in her new family and the first dog her owner has ever had on his own- Cassie will prove to be a wonderful dog for Brendan, as she won him over in just minutes. Cassie has spent the past week taking in all the sights, sounds and smells of the city, often crashing out on the couch before bedtime! Her foster mom feels honored to have had the opportunity to work with and place Cassie as she certainly changed her outlook on "big dogs".

Common misconceptions before adopting a dog: |
|
1. We’re getting Rex for the kids - they will do all the work.
Maybe for the first week or so, but most kids will slack
off soon enough and the responsibility will fall on your laps.
You are considered to be the owner because you are over the age
of 21. If your kids do not walk Rex, then it is up to you that
it gets done. As much as we talk to our kids about responsibility
and as much as they agree to care for your new dog, we all know
that sooner or later most kids will lose interest or get tired.
If you can positively answer these questions and concerns, then you may be
ready to adopt Rex.
